MAXWELL & SLI LUKHELE
Maxwell Lukhele was born on 30 July 1978 in Manzini, Swaziland. He attended Primary education at Mahlanya Primary school then went to St Mary High School at Lobamba, Mbabane where he completed his O’level education in 1997. He was born again in 1995 while he was in High school he became part of the Africa Evangelical Church (AEC) Fellowship at Bethany mission in Manzini Swaziland. In 1998 he enrolled at Oxford Business College in Manzini and studied AAT for 2 years and obtained a Certificate in Accounting. He got more involved in ministry in the year 2000 as an evangelist in tent crusades in Swaziland. Maxwell came to South Africa as a missionary in February 2004 and lived in Richards’s Bay where he was Assistant Pastor at New Creation Church. He was mainly involved in mentoring young people and in the music ministry. He later left to help Barak Bible Church in Esikhawini. In June 2004 he helped in starting a branch in the KwaNdengezi community in Pinetown, Durban. At this time a friend introduced him to Pastor Emmanuel Buthelezi who was also doing community work and he, in turn, introduced Maxwell to Garry Hare who was running OrphanAid. He joined OrphanAid in August 2004 and has been working full-time with OrphanAid since as a pastor and manager. In 2006 Maxwell married Sli Lukhele from KwaNdengezi. They have a daughter, Praise, and two sons Joshua and Israel. As a full-time pastoral fieldworker with Brethren, he spends a lot of time among the people in the Valley of 1000 Hills identifying those people who are in true need, building relationships, preaching, teaching, and counseling. Along with his wife Sli, Maxwell currently is also pastoring the Embo Grace Worship Centre which was started in 2013.
